About HNI Corp

HNI Corp (NYSE: HNI) is a manufacturing company that produces workplace furnishings and residential building products. Revenue comes from transactional sales of furniture systems, seating, and hearth products through a multi-brand, multi-channel model serving commercial customers and homebuilders. HNI operates two reportable segments: Workplace Furnishings, where the company holds the market leader position, and Residential Building Products, where its Hearth & Home Technologies unit is North America's largest manufacturer of prefabricated fireplaces and hearth stoves. On December 10, 2025, HNI completed the acquisition of Steelcase Inc. in a cash and stock transaction valued at approximately $1.9 billion, adding the Steelcase brand and its global dealer network to the Workplace Furnishings segment. The combined company serves customers ranging from large multinational corporations to small local businesses, as well as residential construction end markets. HNI was founded more than 80 years ago and is headquartered in the United States.

Revenue model
Transactional product sales across two segments. Workplace Furnishings sells panel-based furniture systems, seating, benching, tables, storage, and collaborative products through contract and small-and-medium-business channels. Residential Building Products sells gas, wood, electric, and pellet-fueled fireplaces, stoves, inserts, and accessories under multiple brands to the home market.
Products and services
Workplace Furnishings brands include HON, Allsteel, Kimball, Steelcase, Coalesse, Gunlocke, HBF, HALCON, National, Orangebox, Smith System, Viccarbe, AMQ, Designtex, and others. Residential Building Products brands include Heat & Glo, Heatilator, Majestic, Harman, Quadra-Fire, Vermont Castings, SimpliFire, Monessen, PelPro, The Outdoor GreatRoom Company, Forge & Flame, and Stellar. Hearth product lines cover direct-vent fireplaces, inserts, stoves, outdoor fire pits, fire tables, and accessories.
Customers and end markets
Workplace Furnishings serves commercial, health care, government, and education customers across contract and SMB channels, from the largest multinational companies to small local businesses. Residential Building Products serves the home market through residential construction and remodel channels.
Value-chain role
Vertically integrated manufacturer. HNI designs, manufactures, and markets products in-house, maintaining vertical manufacturing capabilities across both segments and distributing through an extensive dealer and distribution network.
Geographic exposure
Primarily United States. Workplace Furnishings also distributes products internationally. The Steelcase acquisition (completed December 10, 2025) added a global geographic footprint and dealer network. HNI divested its HNI India business in FY2025.
